We live in a world where everything is instant and pre-packaged. All ready to go, from the coffee that we drink to the food that we eat. In the busy world in which we are immersed, we seem to be drawn to something that is either easy or quick to do. That is why when people claim that they can guarantee a quick weight loss program, we jump right in.

But truth of the matter is, what is quick may not necessarily be that fast by anyone’s standard. Truthfully it takes a little bit of hard work for even the quickest of weight loss programs.

You have to know that everything involves work. Nothing is served on a silver platter, especially losing weight. Can you really expect to lose weight by just sitting and waiting?

Is Promised Quick Weight Loss Safe Weight Loss?

You hear a lot of programs claiming a hundred percent effectiveness. Well, the counter question is should be, “Is it 100 percent safe?”

We usually associate quick weight loss with fasting. This should be a big no-no. It is neither healthy nor realistic at all. You deprive yourself of nutrients that helps your body keep going. It’s unrealistic since you can’t possibly do not eat in long term.

We don’t a quick death from quick weight loss, now do we? It may sound horrible but we need to realize that it does happen.

But there are situations that require us to lose that weight as fast as we can. For example, you need to fit into a dress within a week for a prom date, or want to tone up your body for a vacation coming soon. Sound familiar?

The trick to quick weight loss is to give yourself more time. At least, you give yourself a month or so to trim down. What is important and what you have to keep in mind is that food and exercise should go hand in hand. Stay away from crash diets as much as possible. You certainly do not want to lose all that energy and faint due to hunger. You can’t put a months worth of weight loss into a couple of days. The more time you give yourself, the better chance you have of success.

Keep your diet on the right track by eliminating sweets and sugar entirely. Even on a non-rushed diet, you should be avoiding sugars. But on a quick weight loss diet, you must avoid empty calories wherever you can.

Another way that can help guarantee a quick weight loss is exercise. No time? Well, there is always time. You don’t have to go to the gym to do your exercise routine. This just means that you need to move around. Sweat it up. Instead of driving your car you might want to walk to do your groceries. Or go dancing. You should practice on those moves anyway. Anything you can do to burn calories all day long will help you lose weight.

You practice perseverance and hard work in the workplace to get promoted. The same perspective will also apply to losing weight. To ensure quick weight loss it involves those two things. You must be determined to do and you must put in some hard work. You can lose the same amount of weight easier if you had more time. But when you are in a rush, you do have to work for it. Quick weight loss doesn’t come on a silver platter!

Whether it’s for a special event, a healthier body or just for added self-confidence, some people simply want to lose weight. You know that you are supposed to cut calories, exercise in the gym or maybe do a sport to get in shape but it seems like you have to wait for months before you see the results. You just can’t help but wonder, “Aren’t there any ways to lose weight fast?”

Sure, there are plenty of diets and dietary supplements that claim they hold the secret to the fastest way to lose weight. But are they healthy and do they work? Though there are diet pills that work by speeding up your metabolism and slowing down your appetite, are they safe to be used? While you may lose weight with these supplements, you may also be putting the health of your body at risk if you don’t use the properly.

If you want to lose weight fast, you have to stay healthy too. Remember that pounds that are easily lost tend to come back faster than you think. Diet pills without proper diet and exercise, and fasting are simply not going to allow you to maintain the weight loss. You cannot fast for a long period of time, and diet pills are called supplements for a reason: They supplement weight loss.

But there are ways to lose weight fast. It simply requires some dedication on your part.

Exercise is Vital to Fast Weight Loss

Fast weight loss doesn’t happen without exercise. Many people get scared and they think that by exercising, they build unwanted or unflattering muscle. We’re talking about muscle-building exercises like weightlifting or rowing. What you may not realize is that, yes, you may be building extra muscle and consequently gaining weight (muscle weighs more than fat) but that same muscle content can also help you shed those unwanted pounds by improving your metabolism. You will eventually notice that your clothes will fit nicely and snugly around your body.

The more weight you want to lose, the more exercise you will need to get. Get as much as exercise as you are determined to do. But never push it overboard to the point where you’re suffering from exhaustion or dehydration.

Drink Lots of Water

Drinking ice cold water makes your metabolism speed up because it requires the body to heat it up to a compatible temperature. Doing this, you get to burn a few extra calories. Water helps you get rid of excess body fat if you are replacing sodas and juices with water. It is recommend that you drink at least a gallon a day. It sounds like a lot, but over the course of a day it should be no problem. Always stay hydrated when you exercise!

Lastly, water can make you lose weight by making you feel fuller so you don’t have to eat more than you have to. Before you sit down for a meal, drink a large glass of water first. If this works for you, you will have spared yourself from hundreds of calories you could have consumed in that meal.

Eat smaller meals everyday

Instead of three full meals, divide your meals so you eat smaller amounts per meal but in several occasions throughout the day. Eating 5 small meals instead of just 2 or three full meals each day will help keep your metabolism up. And we all know that an increased rate of metabolism is going to help you lose those extra pounds. Combine better eating with exercise and you’re going to see results!

Also, don’t forget to pay attention to portion control. With your main meals, eat one plate and stop. Don’t let big portions from restaurants tempt you either. Choose foods that are good for you. These include those of which are high in fiber. Fiber helps with your digestion, allowing body to rid itself of excess weight. Skip foods with processed flour and sugar as these are more difficult to melt down.

These are just some of the ways to lose weight fast. Keep in mind that what’s important is that you stay healthy no matter what type of diet regimen you choose to have. After all, being healthy is still better than being thin.

Everyone is very conscious about their weight. Being healthy and being fit has become a trend. You can’t go an hour without seeing weight loss being advertising on the web or television. Many plans and techniques have sprouted up that guarantee you’ll have this “perfect body”. But really, what is the secret you ask? There are only two words you need to know for losing weight: healthy eating.

You might say that you already knew that. Others may also say that this method is not only obsolete but it is too simple. But sometimes the things that work are the simplest things to do.

Losing weight does not have to be something that is either complicated or extraordinary. The weight loss truth is: all you need to do is practice healthy eating.

So why do we always promote healthy eating? What makes it essential to everybody’s life? There are plenty of reasons why healthy eating is a good practice to start today. Lets review the different food groups available out there, and why we need them.

Go Foods

Go Foods: This group comprises the carbohydrate-rich food. Examples are breads, cereals, rice, and pasta.

As the word “go” implies, this group of food helps keep you going. When you need to be on the go then eat carbohydrate-rich food. Carbohydrates are responsible for giving you the energy that you need. When you eat carbohydrate-rich food the body either utilizes or stores them for future use.

There really is no need to worry about eating this type of food. You cannot avoid eating carbohydrates even when you are on a weight loss diet. Did you know that carbohydrates also serve as a fuel for your metabolism?

Go Foods are especially important for athletes and people who spend a large amount of time exercising. Carbohydrates are the body’s expendable fuel for activity. So now you know why marathon runners have a pasta-rich meal the night before a big race!

Grow Foods

Grow Foods: This food group comprises the protein-rich foods. There’s lean red meat, chicken, fish, and cottage cheese to name a few.

These foods are responsible in building tissues which makes up your muscles. They also aid in the “growing years” of a child. Thus the word - grow.

Protein is not only good for building but also good for the repair and maintenance of your muscles (these include wound healing and body development). Protein allows for muscle recovery - For example, when you lift weights, your muscles literally rip apart (on a microscopic level). The body needs protein to rebuild them, and when it does, they come back just a bit stronger than before.

Glow Foods

Glow Foods: You should not forget to include this food group in your healthy eating diet. This food group comprises the vitamins and minerals. They help you keep glowing. You can find many, if not all, of your required vitamins and minerals in fruits and vegetables.

We all know that there is a long list of vitamins and minerals. Each vitamin and mineral has its own function to carry. From vitamin A which we all know is good for the eyesight to vitamin C which is essential for fighting infection.

Keeping a Balance

Remember how people would say that money is not bad in itself but the wrong use of money is what makes it bad? The same analogy can be applied in the food you eat. If you think about it, the problem is not the food itself but the quantity consumed.

We all know that too much of everything is bad for you. So just remember to keep these three food groups in balance and be disciplined enough. Never eat only protien (like the Atkins Diet [read about the dangers of too much protien]) or only carbohydrates (the You Gain a LOT of Weight Diet) Balance is what healthy eating is all about.

If you are determined to shed some pounds and have tried a lot of diet schedules and yet virtually nothing has worked out, read on and you might just realize that walking to lose weight is right for you. The weight loss philosophy is simple – burn more calories than those that you can consume. Since consuming calories is inevitable, you can put more effort in burning the calories off. Of course, there’s no better way to lose weight than by exercise?

However, lack of time has always been an excuse as to why people do not exercise. It may be because of work, school or other commitments. What you may not realize is the value that exercise can bring.

Why We Need Even the Smallest Amount of Exercise

Why do you need to exercise? Really, it is not just to burn those 100 calories (which you can do whenever you walk a mile!), it does so much more. When you exercise or stay active, your metabolic rate increases, hence, making you burn calories faster. This is true even after a few hours after exercising. Over the course of a few weeks, your metabolism will really speed up if you stick to an exercise program.

Don’t be Afraid of Gaining Muscle from Exercise

Walking to lose weight helps prevent the body from moving towards the starvation or hibernation response. This is where the body saves up the calories consumed for future use. By moving about, you are resisting the body’s attempt to move into this condition.

Some people may think that when they exercise, they gain more pounds because of the muscles that they get. The truth is they do gain a few pounds of lean tissue as they lose body fat. But in the end you have to be less focused on how much you weigh, but more concerned with how you look.

Still, the good thing about this is that lean tissue is required especially when you want to metabolize your body’s fat content. On the other hand, those who diet but do not get exercise lose out on lean tissue supply. Hence, they have decreased muscle tissue that could have helped metabolize fat.

How-to Walk to Lose Weight

So how do you obtain those muscles? For beginners, you should focus on the distance and time that you spend on walking. You increase the building of leg muscles (calves, quadriceps, and hamstrings) as you spend more time on walking. For those who have been walking for months or years, you will need to alter your walking style to build more muscles just from walking.

Learning to race-walk, you would be building new muscle and burning more calories per mile. For those who are not interested in race walking to build muscle, you should add some strength training to your weekly exercise schedule in addition to walking in order to build muscle.

Warm Up Before Intensive Walking

Every time you walk, you have to start with a warm-up type of exercise. It does not need to be strenuous right away. This is just to send signals from your brain to your body muscles and let them “know” that you plan to undergo something “heavy to the body” or be active for a while. A suggested warm up type of exercise is casual walking for a few minutes. Three minutes tops can do your body good. It will help prepare your body adjust to your exercise routine for the day.

If you immediately start on a high speed, your cells won’t get the signal that what you intend to do is a long term activity. As time goes by, increase the speed of your walk to be able to burn more calories. Do a cooling down walk at the end as well.

When you’re walking to lose weight for at least six hours a week, you also achieve better fitness and decrease your chance of getting heart disease, breast cancer, stroke, and diabetes. Keep in mind that having an active lifestyle truly brings a lot of benefits to you. So take your dog for a walk, the baby on a stroller, whatever it takes to get you out there!

Are you one of those people who have this ideal image and weight in mind? Did you ever, in one point in your life, try a drastic way of losing weight and nothing happened? Or maybe it has but somewhere along the way it backfired? Well, if your answer to these questions is yes then it is about time that you realize that the best weight loss program is the safe weight loss program.

“I want that perfect body and I want it now!” Sound familiar? Sometimes, or maybe even most of the time, you want something that in reality is pretty drastic. You want a snap of a finger kind of makeover. Your sole focus is on the end result so much that you don’t care about the means to get there.

These safe weight loss guidelines which will be discussed may be a good start when planning things out in order for you to achieve that ideal weight and get to enjoy it at the same time. You don’t want to be thin but sickly right? How can you enjoy your newly found image if that is the situation?

For every action done there is a reaction involved. That’s Physics right? Anyway, this holds true to your method of losing weight. If you practice something that is not good for your body, then yes, you lose weight but will your may see some bad side effects in the end.

Here are some of the safe weight loss guidelines that we’re going to highlight:

Practice Small Frequent Meals - Who says in order to lose weight you have to deprive yourself of food? You just can’t stop eating what your body has been used to. Instead cut the portions of the food you’re going to eat. Also divide each serving within the span of the day. This is very helpful in the digestion process. Allow your body time to absorb the nutrients it needs and eliminate those that are waste.

The ideal amount of times to eat is 5-6 times a day. You want your 3 main meals, and 2-3 smaller healthy snacks during the day. Remember, not eating to lose weight is bad for you!

Move Around - Don’t be a couch potato all day and move that butt of yours. Thinking of kilometers and running or jogging sounds tiring already? Well don’t think of it. Instead of counting numbers, why not plan a general cleaning in the house, offer to do groceries, walk the dogs around the block or even play a game of sport with your kids or friends. Try to associate activities with the things you like. You get to enjoy and at the same time loss that extra pounds.

Most doctors recommend at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. If you spend a few minutes here or there being active, by the end of the day you will be well over 30 minutes of activity.

Talk to your doctor and/or nutritionist - The last safe weight loss guideline to mention, but certainly not the least important. If you have certain conditions that need to keep in mind, always talk to your doctor. You and your doctor may plan out activities that will suit your abilities and not harm you. Your nutritionist may also suggest certain groups of food that best works for you and your condition.

You have to keep in mind that your body is you temple. You want to do what is good for your body as much as possible. Remember, you only get one in your lifetime, so you better take care of it. That’s why it’s always better to follow safe weight loss guidelines instead of doing something drastic that can have permanent side effects.

There are a number of weight loss myths out there. But what is a myth anyway? A myth as a dictionary word would define is a story, an idea, or a concept that is invented. In short, it is something that is not true.

But why do most people believe in them? Because it’s convincing and it sounds true to our ears especially if it were uttered from the mouth of a very influencing person. This is the nature of the human condition.

Before you plan on losing weight you have to know the truth about weight loss. And by truth we mean the facts. Repetition of a word or an idea in your mind does not make it the true so better stop convincing yourself. Know what the weight loss myths are before you fall for them.

To help you distinguish one from the other, here is a short compilation of common weight loss myths.

Myth: Fasting is the best way that yields results - Yes, probably. But this is just short term. You can’t just go cold turkey. If you stop eating right there and then or if you decide to skip meals as a means of losing weight then think again. Fasting makes you even hungrier thus you crave more food. You may eat twice daily or once a day but the volume, the amount that you eat will be doubled or tripled. It is instinct.

Have you noticed that when you don’t eat lunch because you were too busy doing something, the minute you finished your work you start to feel the hunger and you eat all these food to satisfy yourself? When you deprive your body of the food that it is used to consuming then tendency is you eat twice as much the next meal.

Myth: Eliminate Carbohydrates to lose weight - This is one of the weight loss myths that are commonly mistaken as the truth. What you hear is that carbohydrates make you fat or help contribute to making you fat. This is not entirely true. Your body needs carbohydrates also. When broken down, these carbohydrates are converted into energy. And you need that energy. Just remember to keep things in moderation.

Myth: Never Eat Sweets - Speaking of moderation, the next myth that we are going to talk about involves sweets. Most people would say that you should avoid sweets completely. However, truth is you really don’t have to deprive yourself once in a while. Just keep things in moderation. You want to feel satisfied not only physically but also emotionally. It also keeps you motivated when you know that you have a reward for yourself for a job well done. Every couple of days should be fine.

The ideal time to eat sweets would be after a workout. Your body metabolizes that simple sugar and doesn’t store the calories. A good post workout meal would be a few gummy worms and a protein shake.

Myth: Eating Less Means You Don’t Have to Exercise - You don’t have to exercise as long as you reduce the amount of food that you eat. This is not true either. Did you know that exercise helps in your metabolism? When you exercise you develop muscles and shed those extra fats that you have. Not only will you look good but you’ll also feel healthier as well.

It is very important that you know and learn how to distinguish facts from myths. Equip yourself with the knowledge of what is the truth. These weight loss myths should help you get started. Since you already know that these are just myths then you can start planning or altering that plan of yours.

Don’t Stop Eating! - Don’t diet by “starving” yourself. You will go into what’s known as “fat storage mode” or “starvation mode.” The name doesn’t really matter, but the fact that you will hurting your weight loss does. Your body attempts to conserve energy by slowing down your metabolism and it stores more fat for energy. If you can’t resist not eating, always try to stay at a 1200 calorie minimum. 1500-2000 calories per day is ideal!

Plus you need energy from food not only to function throughout the day, but to get the exercise you need to accelerate your weight loss.

Really, Don’t Stop Eating! - We eat food for energy, but we also need food to get the required vitamins and nutrients we need to survive. Vitamin pills are no replacement for the natural vitamins found in food. Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals can lead to all sorts of health problems, depending on what you’re lacking.

When you are eating the right amount of calories per day, and the food you are eating is healthy, then your vitamin and mineral intake will be sufficient. Most people eating healthy diets do not need additional vitamin supplements.

Do the Math - Losing weight is a simple equation. The amount of calories you consume must be less than the amount of calories you use per day. If the amount you eat is more than the amount you expend, then you will gain weight.

Track your calorie intake with a website like Fitday.com. Then you can track the amount of calories you burn when you exercise. You can do that in Fitday.com too, or use this calorie tool to estimate how much you burn with exercise and daily living. Keep in mind, that being relatively close is fine, and you should not worry about your day-to-day changes. Just look at your progress week to week and month to month.

Chew More - This is a simple trick you can do. Slow down the speed at which you chew (for example, count 20 chews before swallowing). This not only helps with your digestion (digestion starts in the mouth where the saliva begins to break down food) but also tricks your brain into thinking you are eating more than you usually do.

The number one rule of dieting is not: Obey. A diet comes from the foods we eat each and everyday so, in theory, you are always “on a diet.” That means every time we eat something, you have to ask ourselves, “Is this helping or hurting my overall diet?”

If you’re not a nutritionist, it can be tough to tell what is healthy for you and what is not. But there are some hard and fast rules you can apply to your life today to generally improve your overall healthy diet.

Cut the soda and juice - Soda is a diet killer. There are about 40 grams of sugar per one 12oz can of soda. You could lose 1-4 lbs a month alone if you cut this out of your diet. Most juices aren’t any healthier. Check the nutrition labels and you’ll see their sugar levels are on par with sodas.

Replace sodas and juices with ice cold water. It might be hard to get used to at first, but eventually you won’t be able to go back to soda and juices knowing how bad they are for you! You’ll actually start to enjoy the taste of food more.

Turn Chips in Pretzels - If you’re a potato chip eater, replace them with pretzels. One serving of chips has 60 calories more than pretzels, and 10 times more fat grams. This can help you lose half a pound this month. That said, pretzels are incredibly high in sodium. If you switched that snack to baby carrots, expect to lose another half-pound and be a whole lot healthier!

Stop Eating Fast Food - It took years and years for laws to come into place that forced fast food restaurants to provide their nutritional information. There’s a reason for that: They don’t want you to know! The average menu at your fast food restaurant is full of fat and carbohydrates and very little nutrition The best solution is to stop all together, but if you absolutely have to have fast food, stick with their healthier options. Always go for a smaller size (value “pricing” is designed to get you to order more!) and cut out the soft drink (replace it with water).

Fixing Breakfast - You must always eat breakfast! Some people tend to think by skipping this very important meal, they are helping their diet. That’s not the case. Eating breakfast allows you to get more nutrition and energy throughout the day, while helping you avoid cravings for bigger meals had you avoided breakfast.

Aim for lower calorie breakfast choices like 1% milk, low fat cottage cheese (with fruit or all-fruit jelly), and healthier cereal (Kashi is an absolutely amazing brand of cereal!)

Skin the Fat - This goes for all the chicken lovers out there - Always have broiled or grilled chicken over the very unhealthy alternative: Fried chicken. Chicken skin is incredibly high in calories and fat - about 200 calories per average serving.

Anyone who has tried to lose weight knows how hard it can be. That’s why you need to commit yourself to weight loss. You can’t half ass it. Don’t expect results from buying one product you see in a late-night infomercial, or take the advice of some women who lost weight with acai berry with “no effort.”

True and long-lasting weight loss comes from lifestyle changes. Depending on how your lifestyle is now, these changes can be major or minor. Either way, you can make some lifestyle changes that have a compounding effect on your weight loss.

But before you even think about those lifestyle changes, you have to put yourself in the correct mind frame. That means planning and motivating yourself to lose weight. Every bit of planning you do will have awesome effects on your weight loss in the future. Think of it as investing in your future self.

Commit to a goal - Write down a goal. It’s one of the most powerful things you can do. Writing it down means commitment. Write your goal in the future tense and don’t limit yourself. When you aim for the stars, you land on the moon! You can learn how to write a great weight loss goal in our DietSpy.com Simple Weight Loss Guide

Visualize Yourself Successful - This is exactly what you’re doing when you write down your goals. Visualize yourself in your best possible shape. Just knowing that your life will change for the better when you lose weight is great motivation. Many health problems in overweight or obese people tend to disappear as they get into a healthy weight range. Can that motivate you too?

Bite-sized Chunks - Now break down your goal into bite-sized chunks than you can follow. What will you change in your life right now to lose weight? What do you have to do everyday or every week to reach your goals? Where will you be in 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months, and thereafter? Goals don’t mean much if you don’t look back on them and see if you succeeded or failed. But don’t be scared of failure. Learn from your mistakes and keep trying.
